Mar Gregorios Maha Edavaka, Muscat, has completed its 53 years of existence in the soil of the Sultanate of Oman. We thank God Almighty for the immeasurable mercy and grace that the parish received during these long periods. From a small congregation in 1972, we have now grown into the largest community of Christians in the Sultanate of Oman. Members from different regions like Nizwa, Ibra, Sur, Ibri, Rustaq, Bureimi, etc, all joined this Church for worship. The formation and establishment of two independent churches at Sohar and Ghala are another sign of our growth. The Muscat parish provides all care and support with parental love.
Along with the spiritual needs of the members, we are extending our help and support in the socio-political and economic fields. Our church has contributed substantially to philanthropic activities, health care, social problems, quality education, and many other sectors for a large number of people in Oman and India through its various projects and programmes.
Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka is the only church outside the Kerala region of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church with the presence of the Holy Relics of two declared Holy saints. Now we are blessed with the presence and protection of these Saints of Mar Gregorios of Parumala and Vattasseril Mar Dionysios. The supreme head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church His Holiness Moron Mar Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II along with the Diocesan Metropolitan of this Parish H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios erected the Holy Relics of Sabha Bhasuran Vattasseril Gheevarghese Mar Dionysios on 4th March 2016 at our Maha Edavaka. The Holy Relics of Parumala Thirumeni were also relocated into the newly constructed shrines.
May God bless you all.
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
We are living in a world that is rapidly flourishing in all the dimensions of technology. Though we are all part of these changes happening in the field of science and technology, we are able to stay connected with our Creator through our spiritual and philanthropic activities.
Here, through this website, our Parish is helping many come closer to God. Let us make this website a platform for sharing spiritual insights for the enrichment of everyone. As St. Paul's reminds us, you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Let us stay rooted in Christ, walk in Him, and bear good fruit to society as a whole, being a Christian role model to others.
May God Bless Us All!!!
With Prayerful Regards,
Fr. Liju Thomas
